Craig Czury has made literary magic happen for over thirty years - no one else
does it quite the same. Here are a few ways you can bring him to your community, as well as responses from people like you who have hired him for various services:
POETRY READINGS & KEYNOTE PRESENTATIONS
For over 35 years, Craig has been a featured poet speaking to audiences of all ages across the U.S., and also in Albania, Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Chile, Columbia, Estonia, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Macedonia, Northern Ireland, and Russia. It is his approachability, charisma and natural ability to connect with audiences, as well as the unexpected content of his poetry that makes him a sought-after, fresh and entirely engaging performer.
WRITING WORKSHOPS & SCHOOL RESIDENCIES
Spontaneous Combustion! That is how Czury's workshops are described. Whether for beginning writers, for non-writers, or for master-classes, each session produces unexpected spirit, creativity, and hilarity. "I expect brilliance," he says, "but when I get startling brilliance from students...Wow! Now we're really getting somewhere!" Highly interactive, Czury's poetry & writing workshops open for participants a porthole through which they can access their own voices and the wonderment of their intrinsic, philosophic wordsmithery.
COMMUNITY ARTS & PUBLIC POETRY PROJECTS
Craig specializes in creating public infrastructures that enable the voices of the project participants to speak and to be heard. A pioneer of what he calls "Poem Fusion," Craig has traveled the world to bring diverse voices together into stunning, revelatory, and collaborative poems. A Poem Fusion is a social adventure, a powerful and spirited series of creative writing workshops, resulting in a multi-voice poem. Participants work under his direction, combining their voices into a group voice - a poetic choir, if you will. This is a transformative experience, one of gestalt, where from the combined voices creates a narrative and a poetic much larger and more inclusive than any of the single voices from which it was born.
The entire experience culminates with an in-house or public performance featuring the participants performing their individual writings as well as the Poem Fusion. In rural communities, in cities, among the elderly, the incarcerated, the disenfranchised, and especially in situations of conflict, Craig facilitates Poem Fusion projects for all age groups and cultures hungry for socially transformative experiences.
INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVALS & BOOK TOURS
For over 20 years, Czury has been a participant at International Poetry Festivals in Europe, Asia, and The Americas. His book tours have taken him abroad where his work has been translated into Albanian, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

LIVING INSIDE A MIRROR
Sample from a STUDENT POEM FUSION
Living inside a mirror
everything is backwards
no one is listening
it’s like you’re mixed up
in a backwards world
walking in the opposite direction
Living inside a mirror
is like living in a jar
that reflects my future
what I’ll be when I grow up
confusing me with the truth or is it a lie
