Koto Music on Public Square
KOTO MUSIC ON PUBLIC SQUARE
Hiroshima Day Wilkes-Barre 1985
We have torn ourselves open cutting out the forms of our bodies our children’s bodies on plastic garbage bags bodies meant to be thrown away to dance the flash of police light on Public Square our plastic body shadows into cement like sun
where you will sit eating potato pancakes where you will sit teasing the pigeons with crushed ice where you will sit smoking and bitching out everyone in a loud voice
A grimy-faced boy squats to drink from the fountain brushes back his hair with the side of his hand to not get wet
Yes why we lay our shadow bodies down
